Submissions Wanted: Connecting Your Message Awards

Virginia’s affordable housing organizations are invited to show off their creative side by participating in the "Connecting Your Message" Awards.  Sponsored by Housing Virginia and Metropolitan Regional Information Systems (MRIS), the "Connecting Your Message" Awards will spotlight the effective use of traditional and emerging forms of communication to deliver the housing affordability message.  Entries might include a cooperative, regional advertising campaign, a strong public relations effort that targeted decision makers, or even a creative invitation to an affordable housing event that increased event attendance.

 A $1000 award will be made in each of the following categories:
•    Free Media:  entries might include stories appearing in print media, op-ed pieces, and TV or radio coverage
•    Paid Media:  entries might include print, broadcast, outdoor,  internet and other types of advertising, as well as creative   promotional materials
•    Social Media:  entries might include innovative website enhancements and the creative use of networking sites like Twitter and Facebook

Extra point value will be considered in examples where Housing Virginia was used as a resource. This will include effective communication programs where Housing Virginia’s message, products or tools were used.

 Submissions will be due on October 15th. Contest winners will be announced in November, and entries will be showcased on the Housing Virginia website and at the Governor’s Housing Conference.
