Microblog #16: New Rural Housing Alliance Forms (133 words)

Housing Virginia began its Rural Housing Initiative at the 2015 Governor’s Housing Conference. Since then, we’ve held listening sessions across the commonwealth, completed a comprehensive report on the state of rural housing needs in Virginia, and convened a stakeholder group to guide policy implementation strategies.

We’re still continuing this work in 2017 by assembling a new alliance of rural housing providers to share ideas, best practices, and resources. This network, Housing Action for Rural Virginia (HARVa), will also receive technical assistance from Housing Virginia in the form of needs assessments, program overviews, and participating in housing “summits.”

We’re excited to keep up this initiative’s momentum and look forward to working with HARVa. If you are a rural housing provider and want to work with Housing Virginia and HARVa, contact us to learn more.
