Bob Adams has a wide, diverse expertise in both housing finance and public policy. In addition to serving as Executive Director of Housing Virginia, he is also President of Housing & Development Advisors, which he founded in 2006.
Bob previously served as the Executive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer of Community Housing Partners for nearly a decade. During his tenure, CHPC significantly expanded its multifamily development activity and created a Neighborworks Homeownership Center serving Hampton Roads.
His resume includes leadership positions at the National Low Income Housing Coalition, Virginia Department of Housing & Community Development, and Virginia Housing Development Authority. Bob serves on a variety of national and local Boards and Advisory Committees including the Advisory Council of the Federal Home Loan Bank of Atlanta.
Karin has more than 20 years of fund development and administrative experience in the nonprofit sector. She started her career in Seattle, working with the Plymouth Housing Group and Sound Generations. She spent 15 years in Washington, DC, serving as Development Director for Mentors, Inc., where she gained expertise in development strategies, communications, grant writing, and organizational leadership. She further honed those skills while helping a grassroots mentoring organization - Mentoring to Manhood - obtain its first-ever grants, and be recognized as one of the best small nonprofits in the Washington, DC area by the Catalog for Philanthropy. Her focus on grant writing and love of tennis then resulted in a three-year stint as grant writer and coach at the Washington Tennis & Education Foundation.
She has a B.A. from the University of Washington in Political Science and a Certificate in Nonprofit Management from Georgetown University. She proudly became a Richmond resident in 2016.
Administration + Projects Associate
Flora is the Associate of Administration and Projects at HDAdvisors. She keeps up communications for Housing Virginia, including websites and email lists, organizes meetings, keeps records, and takes on special projects.
Before joining the affordable housing industry, Flora received her BA in Sociology and Gender Studies from William & Mary. During her last semester, she was a Development Intern at the Avalon Center in Williamsburg, which works to end domestic and sexual violence.
Senior Associate, Research + Programs
Jonathan is the Senior Associate for Research and Programs at HDAdvisors, providing data collection and analysis for affordable housing non-profits across Virginia. He specializes in using GIS to create static and interactive maps that help tell the story of housing needs throughout the state. Jonathan has a Masters in Urban and Regional Planning from Virginia Commonwealth University, where he also earned undergraduate degrees in Political Science and Environmental Studies. He is a Richmond native, and volunteers with the Maymont Foundation to help build a GIS platform for their historic estate and arboretum.
Senior Associate, Development + Programs
Erica Sims has worked in the non-profit management, affordable housing development and community organizing fields for over 17 years. Her focus has been on social and economic justice through housing and economic development. Ms. Sims has held private sector, nonprofit and government roles and has overseen the development of over 2,500 units of affordable housing and 50,000 square feet of commercial development space in new construction and renovation projects.
Prior to joining HDAdvisors in 2017, she acted as Deputy Executive Director of Mutual Housing Association of New York, an non-profit affordable housing developer, owner and manager with a portfolio over 1,500 units of affordable housing. She received a Bachelor's in Economics and a Bachelor's in Urban Planning from the University of Michigan and a Masters of Business Administration from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
